Access Point

Access Point(AP) is a wireless network device that acts as a portal for devices to connect to a local area network. Access points are used for extending the wireless coverage of an existing network and for increasing the number of users that can connect to it.

Wireless APs are used in larger businesses and venues where many APs are required to provide service to support thousands of users. The number of access points needed will increase as a function of the number of network users and the physical size of the network.
